Can outdoor cushions be left outside in the summer?
While it may seem counter intuitive, to extend the lifespan of your cushions, you should look to cover or store them when not in use. It can be convenient to leave them on outdoor furniture, but over time the sun, night dew, rain and general elements will deteriorate your fabric. Most outdoor cushions will be weather resistant to a certain point, so you should always check the care instructions – some can be left in the full sun, whereas others specify that they should only be used for undercover alfresco areas.
What materials should I use for outdoor cushions?
The material you choose for your outdoor cushion is highly dependent on your personal circumstance. You may be more interested in durability, while others ma look for comfort first. Synthetic fibres like acrylic and polyester are durable sun-hardy synthetic fibres that are resistant to deterioration by the elements. Alternatively polypropylene is another durable textile that can withstand rain, humidity, and sunlight. Cotton is another option, preferred for its comfort and stylish appearance, however is more vulnerable to humidity and mildew.
